What the banks reported

On November 6, 2026, Tamashima Shinkin Bank reported disruption to some deposits, withdrawals and transfers from around 13:30 JST, affecting branches, ATMs, internet banking and its app. Osaka City Shinkin Bank reported a fault in the shared online system that affected its branch counters, ATMs, internet banking and some ATM transactions with other institutions. The cited notices did not give a root cause or a time for full recovery.

Test the dependencies that channels share

Map the ledger, connectivity and identity services each channel depends on. Then rehearse a failure of the shared service itself and verify that alternative payments, reconciliation of pending transactions and customer notifications can operate independently. For service providers, the case illustrates demand areas such as cross-channel availability monitoring, failover exercises and recovery validation. Check formal procurement notices for actual opportunities.
